My Health Blog

We all desire health, yet when unwanted symptoms occur, our first instinct (through years/generations of conditioning) is to intervene, we feel that we must do something, or take something.  We treat & unwittingly suppress through the use of herbals, supplements , vitamins, pharmaceuticals or other in response to the body’s expressed symptoms.

We can’t just do nothing, can we? Doing nothing would be perceived by others as uneducated, careless, reckless, and besides, it’s virtually unheard of .

When I read this quote, it inspired me to think more in-depth about this topic.

“DOING NOTHING” INTELLIGENTLY IS THE HARDEST OF ALL THINGS TO DO.”

It’s so accurate!

One of the biggest issues that I’ve noticed over many years is our collective misinterpretation of what symptoms really are.  Symptoms are not our Enemy like we are taught.  Symptoms are actually the body’s attempts at healing itself, however, for the body to heal we often must pass through a period of feeling unwell while dealing with unpleasant symptoms.

Most people fear their symptoms.  Most fear feeling unwell. Perhaps this is because sickness is a time where we are not only feeling awful, but we are also forced to face ourselves as the body takes over – we feel powerless and often useless.  It’s not easy to take the time for ourselves to give the body what it requires for optimal healing – rest.

When it comes to our health, “doing something” almost always causes more harm than “doing nothing” and allowing the body to go through its processes. But most of us are afraid to find out.

The doctor will create fear within the patient, strongly recommending that they “do something” by confidently stating what COULD happen, if they DON’T administer the treatment or recommended poison medicines.

The fear of doing nothing is born out of the fear of neglect & personal liability.  Doing nothing and allowing the body’s processes to run its course is deemed the opposite of intelligence in today’s medical minded world. Intervention is the way of the world.

Lauren Whiteman’s wise words👇

“This is what we have been taught to do all our lives.  To work against the body.  To treat the body cleaning itself as a “disease”, the enemy, something to be battled, something that we must do SOMETHING to fix.

But for those who understand healing, we understand that our most powerful weapon in our arsenal of health is to do NOTHING intelligently.

This means that when the cleaning symptoms come, we stop putting everything in and we let everything flow out unencumbered.

We REMOVE the CAUSE of the initial build up of waste so that no more waste is going in.  This is the intelligent part.   Then we sit back and let the body do the work of cleaning itself.   This is the intelligent part.  We water fast to get through acute symptoms.  We rest. We let the body do the rest.   This is the intelligent part.  And when we embrace the awe inspiring power of the body to heal itself without thinking we need to interfere, we get well, our pets get well, our loved ones get well”

Herbert Shelton wrote this long ago:👇

“You don’t need treatment. The fever, inflammation, coughing, etc., constitute the healing process. Just get out of their way and permit them to complete their work. Don’t try to ‘aid’ nature. She doesn’t need your puny aid—she only asks that you cease interfering.”

– Herbert Shelton

When we apply the so-called “remedies”, such as herbs for example, we slow the healing process, and often cause additional burden to an already overburdened body. I’ll post about herbs and why they are damaging to our health later this month.

To take a step back and “do nothing intelligently” requires knowledge, courage and faith in the body’s ability to heal itself.

I feel that it’s such a tragedy in itself that doing nothing has been ridiculed, demonized and looked upon as an uneducated layman’s approach.

I added an article from Dr. Virginia Vetrano to the files section that you may find helpful on this topic!

And remember, less is always more In the world of health & healing, simplicity is key and the truth is simple.
